A Typical Day

LLN-0631Drop off and breakfast
Morning starts with the drop off of children at various times.
Breakfast is offered between 8:00am to 8:30am.
Our nursery teams are experienced in settling children into the nursery.

Morning
So that our nursery team can get to know your child well, they will encourage them to join in or select an activity or area of play that they particularly enjoy. After your child has settled into their surroundings healthy snacks – fruit and milk – will be offered mid morning – water is provided throughout the day.

Lunchtime
Full day and Morning session children will be provided with a delicious homemade lunch. We place great importance in eating in sociable groupings, talking about our meal, and making it a relaxing and enjoyable time for everyone.

The children take their meals with their peers in the Nursery rooms and ‘Thank you’ is said prior to eating to encourage good manners. We respect each child’s individual and cultural needs and treat meal times as a social learning occasion where the children are allowed to eat at their own pace.

Sleep time
Younger babies will probably need a number of sleeps during the day, and as they get older this will reduce to one sleep, usually after lunch. We will always endeavour to enable your child to sleep when they want to, and will also work with you to establish a routine that suits their specific needs.

Parents are asked to provide blankets and linens for their children during sleep times as we feel the children are more comfortable with familiar items. These must be collected at the end of your child’s nursery week and a clean set to be brought into the nursery on your child’s new week.

Afternoon
Throughout the afternoon your child will enjoy a range of activities designed to enable them to play and explore, discover and grow, learn and understand. Every activity will be tailored to their liking and they will be encouraged to build confidence and understanding through praise, recognition and support. A healthy snack – fruit and milk – will be offered.

Teatime
Mid afternoon, the children sit down to a light tea.

Home time
When you arrive to collect your child, our nursery team will be available to share any information about their day. Every child at the nursery will have a daily communication diary which is passed between parent and nursery each day your child attends, which includes activities, interests, food intake and sleep and how they are developing.

We will do our best to cater for special dietary requirements.

Please check the menu daily on the Parent Information Board.

Menu

We know how important it is that your child gets a nutritionally balanced healthy diet and this is central to our menu planning.

All of our food is sourced locally where possible and we aim to use as many organic ingredients as we can. Our meals are freshly prepared and cooked on our premises.
