Little Legs Day Nursery has been a cherished part of the West Wickham community since 2015.  What started as a vision to create a home-from-home for local families has grown into a trusted nursery where generations of little ones have taken their first steps, made their first friends, and discovered their love of learning.

We’re proud to remain a small, independent nursery where every child is known, valued, and celebrated for who they are.

We believe childhood should be filled with wonder, discovery, and play.  Following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, we create individual learning journeys that celebrate each child’s unique interests and developmental pace.

Your child will enjoy creating masterpieces with paint and imagination and developing crucial life skills through purposeful play. Every activity – from baking to bug hunting – is an opportunity to grow confident, curious, and capable.

When your child joins Little Legs, they will be matched with a special person who becomes their secure base throughout their nursery journey. This key person learns exactly how your little one likes to be comforted, what makes them giggle, and how to challenge them just enough to grow.

They’ll share your child’s daily observations, activities on our online app – Babysdays, celebrate milestones together at our parent week, and ensure that the precious relationship between home and nursery remains seamlessly connected. It’s this personal touch that helps children feel safe, cherished, and ready to explore.

Our nursery may be compact, but it’s perfectly formed for young explorers. With two bright, ground-level rooms – one for Under 2s and another for Over 2s – we maintain an intimate, family atmosphere where children never feel overwhelmed.

Both rooms flow naturally into our secure outdoor space, which is where the real magic happens. Our garden isn’t just a playground; it’s an ever-changing classroom where children can dig in the mud kitchen, search for minibeasts in our bug hotel, create water worlds, and grow their own vegetables. We believe there’s no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing – so wellington boots and waterproofs are essential kit!

Inside, carefully chosen resources invite investigation and imagination. From cosy book corners to creative stations, every area is designed to spark curiosity while feeling warm and homely. We regularly rotate toys and activities based on the children’s current interests – whether that’s dinosaurs, transport, or fairy tales.

We know that nobody knows your child like you do. That’s why our open-door policy isn’t just words – it’s fundamental to how we work. Whether you need an extra cuddle at drop-off, want to share important information about your child’s night, or simply need reassurance that they’re okay, you’re always welcome.

We use Babysdays which is an online app where we capture not just the practical details (naps, meals, nappies) but the special moments too – first friendships, new words, and those precious milestones. Our twice-yearly parent weeks offer deeper conversations about your child’s development, but you are welcome to have a chat over handover at pick-up.

We also love when parents share their talents and traditions with us. Whether you’re happy to read stories in your home language, share cultural celebrations, or help with outings, you’re very much part of the Little Legs family.

Tucked away at the bottom of Pickhurst Lane, we’re perfectly positioned for local families. The residential streets surrounding us make drop-off and collection stress-free, and we are not far from West Wickham, Hayes and Bromley South train stations for commuting parents.

We’re open from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, for 51 weeks of the year. We close only for bank holidays, a week at Christmas, and two annual training days (dates always given well in advance). This reliability helps working parents plan with confidence.

We welcome children from 6 months through to school age, with flexible sessions available:

• Full days (8am-6pm) Minimum of 2 full days
• Morning sessions (8am-1pm) Ad hoc
• Afternoon sessions (1pm-6pm) Ad hoc

All meals are freshly prepared in our kitchen using seasonal ingredients, and we happily accommodate dietary requirements and preferences. Breakfast is served until 8:30am, healthy snacks (mid-morning and afternoon) with Milk, a home cooked lunch, and light tea throughout the day.
